Driver kills pedestrians; arrested for DUI

GRAND LAKE, Colo. (AP) - One person is dead and others are injured after a pickup plowed into pedestrians after Grand Lake's fireworks show.

The crash happened Thursday night on U.S. Highway 34.

The 33-year-old pickup driver was arrested there. He's being held on suspicion of driving under the influence as investigators piece together what happened.

Colorado State Trooper Josh Lewis says initial reports said those who were hit were on the side of the road. The manager of the Blue Bird Motel told KUSA-TV that the victims were carrying chairs and may have been trying to cross the street after the July Fourth fireworks show.

The highway was closed for hours after the crash, stranding people who had come out to watch the show.
