The latest drought monitor, release Thursday, indicates improving conditions all over Colorado.
Although some areas of the Northern Mountains remain abnormally dry, the drought conditions no longer exist for that region. Severe to extreme drought continues for Southeastern Colorado. Nearly all of the Eastern and Southeastern Plains are within the worst two drought categories. The worst conditions are along the Arkansas River east of Pueblo County to the Kansas border.
While hot and overall dry conditions are likely to continue into the weekend, more rain is in the forecast throughout next week. The next drought monitor update will be released during the day Thursday August 22.
