DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - The Durango-La Plata County Airport is looking for a new director.
The Durango Herald reports (http://bit.ly/RF7yq3) Ron Dent has left after 27 years as the airport's director. Gary Suiter became the interim airport director Monday. Suiter is a former interim planning director for La Plata County.
Tom Greenhut of the Durango-La Plata County Airport Commission says the commission has interviews scheduled this month with candidates to be the permanent director. He says the area's high cost of housing can discourage people from applying.
The Herald reports passenger traffic at the airport has been rising, with about 186,500 passengers boarding planes there in 2012.
