The CC Tigers jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first period against the University of Nebraska Omaha Friday. The team added a final goal early in the third period and held on to win 4-3.
Sophomore winger Alexander Krushelnyski put the first point on the board 3:30 into the first period. Junior Rylan Schwartz added on a second goal with assits from Jaden Schwartz, William Rapuzzi a few minutes later.
The Mavericks controlled the second period with scores by sophomores Johnnie Searfoss and Matt White broken up by a goal from Tigers senior Nick Dineen.
Their rally continued with a second Matt White goal 1:57 into the third. But Jaden Schwartz netted the game winner with assists from Rylan and Rapuzzi less than a minute later.
Game two of the series begins Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the Colorado Springs World Arena.
