Early morning fire burns Colorado Springs home

The Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to a 911 call of a structure fire at 7885 Lindsey Dr early this morning. When crews arrived on scene they found smoke coming out of the home through the garage.

Crews made a fast attack on the fire entering the home only to discover multiple holes in the floor with fire and heavy smoke coming from them. Crews regrouped into what is called a defensive attack to prevent the fire from extending any further than it already had. Working from ladders at the windows of the home firefighters were able to knock down the fire.

45 minutes into the call crews began their overhaul procedures as fire investigators were called to determine the cause of the fire. As seen in the photograph supplied by the Colorado Springs Fire  Department, there is extensive damage to the main and second level of the home.

The home was vacant at the time of the fire.
