PUEBLO, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves' head men's basketball coach, Patrick Eberhart, resigned his position with CSU-Pueblo, director of athletics Joe Folda announced Wednesday.
Eberhart, who was hired prior to the 2005-06 season, was just the fifth head men's basketball coach in CSU-Pueblo history. In his time with the ThunderWolves, CSU-Pueblo went 76-89 and made its way to the RMAC semifinals twice (2009 and 2010) and made a total of three playoff appearances. Prior to coming to CSU-Pueblo, Eberhart was an assistant at CSU-Pueblo when Folda was the head coach before moving on to be an assistant at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
"During my tenure at CSU-Pueblo, I have had the opportunity to coach a great number of outstanding young men who have given their all on the court, in the classroom and in the community," Eberhart said. "They have represented CSU-Pueblo with class and all of these young men have made me proud to be their coach. As I look back on my six years at CSU-Pueblo, I am proud of what the men's basketball program has accomplished. Most importantly, our players are earning their college degree, which is far beyond any accolade they or the team could earn on the floor."
"I would like to thank the community, our fans and the parents of our student-athletes for their endless support," Eberhart continued. "My family and I appreciate the friendships we have developed. We will especially treasure the friendships our daughter, Emma, has developed within the community. We are excited about what the future holds."
Eberhart added that he intends to return to coaching at the Division I level.
"I'd like to thank Pat for his overall effort and passion for our men's basketball program," Folda said. "He did an outstanding job with his student-athletes and he conducted a first-class program in his time at CSU-Pueblo. We wish him and his family the best of luck in the future."
Folda said a search for a new men's basketball coach will begin immediately.
