El Paso County starts taking recall ballots September 5th

The recall election is underway in Pueblo, but ballots will not be accepted in El Paso County until Thursday September 5th. El Paso County has to hold off because of a required waiting period, allowing a candidate who tried to petition to get on the ballot to decide if the want to move forward as a write in candidate. The people in charge of elections are now under the 7th set of rules since the recall petition first started. All these rules are something the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder and his staff have to work through. "We're going to work very hard to make that happen regardless of court challenges or rules change or anything else that takes place," said Clerk and Recorder, Wayne Williams, "We want everyone to have that opportunity to let their voice be heard." Voters just have to show up with their ballot. The El Paso County recall question for State Senator John Morse is only for people in Colorado Senate District 11. If you want to know if this is your district or if you have any other questions about where or when to vote the El Paso County Elections Department has put information on-line or you can call them at 719-575-VOTE.
