"We get them and they go out, right out within hours, not days, not weeks. They fly off the shelves so to speak," says Alex Luft with Phil Long Dealerships. He is talking about the Chevy Volt. There has been buzz for several years about electric cars, but not a lot in our area. Now they are starting to show up.
Just this week Daniels/Long Chevrolet got its first demo version of the Volt. "It's been several years that we've been waiting and really anticipating this car and so have the consumers," says Luft. They have gotten a few of the electric cars in previously, but they were sold before they even arrived. Now more people a chance to take a look and go for a drive.
Rather than miles per gallon the car is rated on its range which is between 30 and 50 miles per charge. Studies show most people drive less than 50 miles a day. If it runs out of juice there is a gas powered engine that kicks in to keep you going.
