Endurance race: cyclists ride for 24 hours straight

The National Mountain Biking Championships were held in Colorado Springs this weekend in the sport's longest endurance race. The USA Cycling 24 Hours of Mountain Biking wrapped up this afternoon in Palmer Park.

Individual riders and teams of two and four cyclists began racing along the trails at noon yesterday and didn't stop until noon today.

In fact, the lead solo rider covered a distance of well over 200 miles. Race director Tim Scott says they love the location and the community support they received.

"A lot of people have a lot of just positive feedback for the city, they've loved being here. It's a new location from where they've done these types of races in the past, but they loved the course, they've loved the town and it's just been really, really cool."

The race is also a fundraiser. Scott says money they raised will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
