TODAY: One more quiet day of weather across eastern Colorado before things get windy and much colder here tomorrow. Temps today top-out at 52 in Colorado Springs and 55 in Pueblo. Skies today will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with fairly light winds...especially compared to tomorrow!
TONIGHT: Snow and wind start spreading across western Colorado as a storm system approaches. Locally we'll see fairly quiet conditions most of the night, but the winds will start coming-up about the time the sun is about to rise. Low temps will vary with areas of breezier conditions staying warmer compared to the lighter winds on the plains.
FRIDAY: Here comes the wind to start the weekend. A HIGH WIND WATCH has been posted for all day Friday for all of the New 5 viewing area and the San Luis Valley. Winds in the mountains could be up around 70 mph...lower elevation winds could be up around 45-55 mph, with one or two gusts of 60 mph! A storm system will spread snow from western Colorado to the mountains close to home, including Teller County. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Colorado's central and northern Rockies, including Aspen and Vail, where up to a foot of snow could fall. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for portions of the central and southwest mountains (Crested Butte to Telluride). Snow could measure up to a foot and a half in those areas. A Blizzard Warning covers the eastern San Juan Mountains from 6 PM today through 6 PM Friday! This includes Wolf Creek Pass, where snow totals could be as high as 20 inches. By late morning/noon there could be some snow showers around Cripple Creek and Woodland Park. Snow won't be possible until late in the day locally and will be minimal at best for almost all of us. Our high temps will occur in the morning...before the front arrives. Most of us in the lower 40's.
SATURDAY: Big story will be the cold temps this weekend. We'll still have a chance early in the day of a few light snow showers! Max temps will only reach 17 degrees in the Springs and 21 in Pueblo. Temps up in Teller County will stay in the teens. Still going to VERY cold when Denver and Baltimore meet Saturday. Temp by the 2:30 kickoff on 19 degrees with partly to mostly cloudy skies and a 10% chance for flurries.
SUNDAY: Cold with partly sunny skies to end the weekend. High of only 21 in Colorado Springs and 26 in Pueblo. Temps for Teller County might make it into the teens again to maybe as much as 20 in Woodland Park. For skiers snow will still be possible so check the road reports to see how the mountain passes are doing.
MONDAY: Cold temps continue to grip Colorado to start next week. Highs Monday will be in the mid 20's in the Springs and Pueblo with upper 20's and lower 30's for the Plains. Skies both days will be partly cloudy in the plains and partly sunny over the higher elevations.
TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY: Temperatures will start to moderate a little with mostly sunny skies. Temps finally warm above freezing in the Springs Tuesday with a high of 33...36 in Pueblo. Expect warmer temps still on Wednesday with highs of 44 in Colorado Springs and 47 in Pueblo.
