Ex-CIA contractor pleads guilty to reduced charge

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) - A former CIA contractor involved in a fatal shootout in Pakistan and then charged with a felony in Colorado after a fight over a parking space has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor over the objections of the victim.

Raymond Allen Davis pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree assault. He was ordered to serve two years of probation.

Davis had been charged with felony assault, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and a sentencing enhancing charge of crime of violence before reaching the plea deal that dropped those charges.

The charges stemmed from a fight outside a Highlands Ranch bagel shop in October 2011, about six months after Davis' release from Pakistan.

Jeff Maes says the fight injured his back and neck. His attorney opposed the plea deal, which called for no jail time.
