High Angle Rescue Crews from the Colorado Springs Fire Department are conducting a rescue operation for a fall victim in the Garden of the Gods Park. The victim reportedly fell approximately 15 feet. The victim's current condition and extent of injuries is unknown at this time.
Crews on the ground are preparing to load the victim in a rescue "stokes" stretcher and rigging to lower the patient down. Currently the rescue team is calling this a low angle rescue as the victim is not very far from the floor of the park area. The rescue is occuring in an area known as the Central Plaza near North Gateway Rock and Kissing Camels.
It is unknown if the person was a climber with proper equipment or someone who was scrambling on the rock formation.
