One week after he was found dead in Fountain Creek, the family of Nathaniel Vialpando, 27, is still looking for answers.
Vialpando's body was found in the creek near the intersection of Bandley and Crest Drives on February 8. Investigators said his body had no obvious signs of trauma and they are awaiting autopsy results before determining a cause of death.
On Monday Fountain Police revealed that they had been involved in a pursuit involving Vialpando on December 2. He fled from police when they attempted to pull him over on Charter Oak Ranch Road. The short chase ended when police say Vialpando crashed his truck and fled on foot near the area where his body was eventually found. Police were unable to find Vialpando after he ran, they haven't determined whether his death had anything to do with the chase.
On Friday night Vialpando's friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil near where his body was found.
"For remembrance of Nathaniel," said Travis Vialpando, uncle of Nathaniel Vialpando. "But, half of these people are here asking questions like why and what happened that night?"
The Vialpando family is asking anyone who saw Nathaniel Vialpando between December 2 and February 8 to call the Fountain Police Department at 719.382.8555 or Travis Vialpando at 719.375.1059.
