Fatal car crash in Chaffee county

A Fatal car crash is being investigated in Chaffee County, about 23 miles west of Salida.

Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning a 25-year-old man was killed when the Toyota Camry he was riding in failed to
negotiate a left hand curve and the car went off the right side of the road and the driver over
corrected to the left, causing the car to rotate counterclockwise. The Toyota continued
off road, collided with trees and rolled one and one half times. The Toyota came to rest on its
roof. The driver 19-year-old Cody Katcher of Fort Carson and passenger 22-year-old Nicholas Williams of Fort Carson were taken to Gunnison Valley Hospital in Gunnison and treated for minor injuries.
The 25-year-old male, was restrained at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by Chaffee County Coroner. His identity has not been released until his family has been notified. At this time, alcohol use and drug use are not considered to be contributing factors in the crash.
