It's a fitness phenomenon that's pushing ordinary gym-goers to the extreme.
Obstacle courses like the Spartan Race are growing in popularity. The next one to hit Colorado Springs is just for the ladies. The Dirty Girl Mud Run is an untimed race for all ages and abilities.
"You step outside of your comfort zone and you actually go and do and you cross that finish line with a sense of empowerment and a sense of accomplishment and then you can take that into other areas of your life," said Jenna Mueller, a Dirty Girl Mud Run Global Ambassador.
Elite athlete April Luu of Petyon says it's the perfect way to shake-up your fitness routine. Luu is a mother of two and a professional obstacle racer. She placed first for females at last year's Ft. Carson Spartan Race. Ten months later, she's become an offcial Spartan Racer and she's pushing herself to a first place world-ranking.
