The countdown for Super Bowl 44 is on as the Indianapolis Colts try for their second NFL title in four years when they take on the New Orleans Saints, who are making their first appearance in the big game. Oddsmakers rate Peyton Manning's crew about a five-point favorite over Drew Brees and the Saints.

Some last-minute Super Bowl nuggets:

- Saints coach Sean Payton says he expects cornerback Randall Gay to be ready to play. He's missed time because of a cold and was sidelined yesterday.

- Colts star Dwight Freeney's status for the Super Bowl is still up in the air because of an ankle injury. He watched the final workout of the week from a golf cart.
