Fire grows near Wetmore

A fire burning southwest of Wetmore in Custer county has grown to 25 acres.

It started earlier this week after a lightning strike on National Forest Service land.  The fire is burning about five miles southwest of Wetmore to the north side of Highway 96.  There is no estimate of containment, though there are about fifty firefighters at the scene.

Efforts are expected to be hampered today by gusty winds.  At this point no structures are threatened.
