Fire crews battled two fire rekindles Thursday along Court Street in downtown Pueblo. The fire inspector says the roof collapsed on hot spots making it difficult to get water underneath.
"We have to figure out a way to get under the roofing material," Fire Inspector, Gary Micheli says. "Either that or wait until they bring in some heavy equipment and just start lifting the stuff off and dousing any hot spots we might see at that time."
The department knows that after a fire that damaged almost an entire city block, they have to keep a close eye on the scene for rekindles.
"We have guys drive by every now and then," Micheli says. "If the guys are out on a call they usually come by just to do a spot check. We have the police department helping us out. When they are in the area they'll do a spot check."
Micheli believes the fire started in an attic, but the investigation into the cause of the fire will continue. An insurance adjuster will be on scene Friday.
