KUSA - A wildfire in the foothills of Jefferson County has prompted sheriff's officials to send out evacuation notices in one neighborhood.
The Glencoe Valley Fire is burning just over an acre near 8300 Glencoe Valley Road in Golden. Crews are on the ground and a helicopter is providing air support.
Residents in the Blue Mountain Estates were being asked to prepare to evacuate earlier Monday but are now under a level 2 evacuation notice, which means they should leave soon.
Reverse emergency notifications were sent out to 250 homes. It's not clear how many people that represents, since some homes receive notices to more than one phone number.
The fire is burning in up a ridge in a low forested area. The area has several dirt roads for trucks to access. The fire was reported around 2:15 p.m. Monday.
There is no word on the cause of the fire.
