Five more children have died of confirmed or suspected cases of H1N1 swine flu in the United states, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday.

For the week ending Jan. 23, four kids died of confirmed swine flu, while a fifth died of influenza A. Further tests will confirm if it is swine flu.

While the number of hospital visits for flu is low for this time of year, the number of deaths linked to pneumonia and influenza are higher than expected.

The CDC is reporting widespread flu in just five states--Alabama, Georgia, New Jersey, South Carolina and Virginia.

In Colorado, sporadic flu is reported.
