An Air Force pilot from Canon City who disappeared over North Vietnam 45 years ago is being buried at the Air Force Academy today. The remains of Col. Leo Boston of Canon City were identified three months ago using DNA testing.

Gov. John Hickenlooper has ordered that flags on all state buildings be lowered for the day to honor Boston.

Boston was flying a search-and-rescue mission in 1966 when he became separated from other aircraft. He was listed as missing in
action until 1978, when his status was changed to presumed dead. Human remains and aircraft wreckage were found in the area where he disappeared between 1996 and 2005 by U.S.-Vietnamese teams.
