Flood-ravaged Manitou Springs cafe to relocate

A popular downtown Manitou Springs restaurant that sustained major damage amid this summer's flash flooding will relocate amid the threat of damage from future flooding.  The owners of Adam's Mountain Cafe announced on their Facebook page Saturday that they will move the restaurant from its current location in the historic Manitou Spa Building along Fountain Creek to what is currently the Manitou Steak and Pancake House on the east side of downtown.

The cafe was inundated with water, mud, and soot amid flash flooding in August and was forced to close for several weeks amid the cleanup.  In a Facebook post, it was explained, "We love our location too and we wouldn't be making this move if the potential for future harm to the cafe were not imminent. But this summer was too much. If we have to manage a major shut down every summer going forward, the cafe will not survive."

A separate Facebook post further explained that Adam's Mountain Cafe will remain in its current location until its lease in the Spa building is up in April 2014.
