AURORA, Colo. (AP) - Tyler Faoro ran for 75 yards and four touchdowns as Florence beat Bayfield 34-0 in the Class 2A title game Saturday.
Johnnie Krien ran for 122 yards and a score and quarterback Cody Nichols rushed for 61 yards for the Huskies (13-1), who won their fifth state championship and first since 2005.
Faoro scored on runs of 4, 1, 1 and 11 yards in a game that was played almost exclusively on the ground. Temperatures hovered in the low 20s, and a driving snow fell throughout the first half, nullifying any passing game.
The teams combined to throw only seven passes. The only completion helped set up Faoro's third touchdown late in the third quarter.
Bayfield (12-1) played most of the game without starting quarterback Colt Walker, who hurt his ankle on the fifth play.
The Bayfield offense struggled without Walker, fumbling seven times and losing four.
