For Cleveland women, ordeal of recovery begins now

The ordeal isn't over for the three women freed from captivity inside a Cleveland house. Therapists say they are now facing a long, difficult recovery.

The women were ages 14, 16 and 21 when they were abducted 10 years ago and held inside the house. They will need counseling to deal with the sexual abuse they suffered. They also are entering a different world from the one they left a decade ago.

Dr. Barbara Greenberg is a psychologist who treats abused teenagers. She compares the former captives' experience to coming out of a coma.

Duane Bowers counsels families with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Bowers says that by spending adolescence in captivity, the victims couldn't develop social and emotional skills they'll need before reintegrating into society.
