Former El Paso County Commissioner, Loren Whittemore, dies at 79

COLORADO SPRINGS -- The El Paso County flags are flying at half staff this week to honor former county commissioner, Loren Whittemore.

Whittemore died on Sunday at 79-years-old. He is survived by three daughters and his wife, Judy.

He was elected to serve three terms from 1985 to 1997. 

Before his death, Whittemore was still a member of the El Paso County Citizen's Budget Oversight Committee (CBOC) and the Highway Advisory Commission (HAC). The Pikes Peak Range Riders, Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, Street Breakfast, Colorado State Fair, El Paso County Fair and El Paso County 4-H were some of the events and organizations that he was still active in.

Memorial Services will be on Saturday, August 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Kendrick Bible Church in Rush, Colorado.
