Former Tigers football coach Jerry Carle honored at CC memorial

Legendary CC Tigers football coach Jerry Carle was celebrated Thursday on the campus of Colorado College.

Thursday afternoon at Shove Chapel, family members, friends and fellow CC Tigers gathered to honor his life. Carle passed away over the weekend at the age of 90.

He was CC's head coach for 33 years and was also athletics director for much of that time.

One of his former teammates told me, Carle will leave behind quite a legacy.

"You're young men," said former CC kicker Ted Swan, a 1976 graduate. "You're taking your first steps in life. He was great-- coach Carle and the entire coaching staff, taking us to that bridge between childhood adolescence to adulthood."

Coach Carle is perhaps best remembered for bringing back the old school single-wing offense back in the 1970's.
