A Fort Carson soldier who broke his leg in a "freak of nature" wind accident is recovering after being carried away in a windblown tent.

The soldier, 23-year-old Spc. Jeremiah Wilson, was helping erect a large tent as part of a training exercise Monday morning when a strong gust of wind blew the tent over.

Lt. Col. Steve Wollman says that seven soldiers were hurt in the collapse, either because they were carried for a short distance by the tent or because tent poles fell on them. Besides Wilson, one other soldier was hospitalized as a precaution after hitting his head and was released Monday evening. Wilson was in stable condition Tuesday with a broken femur.

Wollman called the gust a "freak of nature event."
