Fort Carson soldier selfie investigation complete

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - The investigation sparked by a Fort Carson soldier taking a photo of herself avoiding a flag ceremony and sharing it on social media has been completed, according to a Fort Carson spokesperson.  Citing policy, Fort Carson declined to provide any additional information other than "the unit commander addressed the situation consistent with his authority."

The picture, seen above, was posted to the social media site by Fort Carson Private First Class Tariqka Sheffey. Along with the picture was this post: "This is me laying back in my car so I don't have to salute the 1700 flag. KEEP ALL YOUR 'THATS SO DISRESPECTFUL/HOWRUDE/ETC.' COMMENTS TO YOURSELF cuz, right now, IDGAFFFF."

Sheffey's photo and comment on social media went viral and drew criticism from many members of the military and civilians alike.
