Nearly 200 Fort Carson soldiers are scheduled to return home six months earlier than expected because they were able to successfully complete their mission, according to Mountain Post officials.
Fort Carson is welcoming home soldiers from the 4th Infantry Division's 2nd Brigade Combat Team Wednesday evening at 5p.m. They have a ceremony set for the Special Events Center. Fort Carson officials say a preliminary progress report says things are running on-time.
The soldiers have been deployed to Afghanistan, working closely with the Afghan National Army and Afghan Uniformed Police to increase stability and security through the western province of Heart, according to officials from Fort Carson. They've also been conducting humanitarian aid projects, patrols, and combat outpost defense.
Times on these ceremonies can change, and often do; we'll keep you posted.
