Fountain Police Chief resigns

Fountain Police Chief Dan Corsentino has resigned effective at the end of June.

Corsentino has run the Fountain Police Department since the spring of last year.  Before that he served four terms as Pueblo County Sheriff.  He was defeated by Kirk Taylor in November, 2006.

The resignation was confirmed Tuesday afternoon by Deputy City Manager Dave Smedsrud.  He said Corsentino wanted to pursue other opportunities.  Corsentino is Fountain's fifth police chief in the last decade.

In his resignation letter Corsentino mentions a growing frustration level with financial challenges that face the department.
