The seniors of the Florence High School track and field team will be graduating later this spring without having had the chance to compete on their new home field. The high school and stadium were opened during the 2006-2007 school year, but the track quickly become warped and is no longer usable.
Large cracks also showed up in the walls and floors of the cafeteria and gym. The Fremont Re-2 School District is in the middle of a dispute with the builder over who will pay for the repairs.
I'm headed to Florence this morning and will catch up with the track team at a meet later this afternoon.
