Fremont County breaks up crime racket

Several people believed to be involved in a crime spree in August have been arrested by members of the Fremont County Combined Investigative Response Team (CIRT) , the Cañon City Police Department and Deputies from the Fremont County Sheriff's Office.

The suspects are accused of several car thefts, burglaries of motor vehicles, burglaries and attempted burglaries. More arrests are expected. CIRT investigators hope to close more than thirteen cases with the arrests:

Carlos Sanchez Cruze

  • Theft by receiving; class 1 misdemeanor
  • Violation of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act; class 2 felony
  • Cruze is being held at the Fremont County Detention Center on $15,000 bond

Ralph Lee Sanders

  • Second Degree Burglary; a class 3 felony
  • Violation of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act; class 2 felony
  • Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft; class 4 felonies
  • First Degree Criminal Trespass; class 5 felony
  • Sanders is being held at the Fremont County Detention Center on $50,000 bond

Dalton Lee Buckholtz

  • Second Degree Burglary; a class 3 felony
  • First Degree Criminal Trespass; class 5 felony
  • Violation of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act; class 2 felony
  • Buckholtz is being held at the Fremont County Detention Center on $35,000 bond

Cory Ray Cockerham

  • Second Degree Burglary; a class 3 felony
  • First Degree Criminal Trespass; class 5 felony
  • Violation of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act; class 2 felony
  • Cockerham is being held at the Fremont County Detention Facility on $35,000 bond

Chase Aaron Schamp

  • First Degree Criminal Trespass; class 5 felony
  • Violation of the Colorado Organized Crime Control Act; class 2 felony
  • Schamp is being held at the Fremont County Detention Facility on $10,000 bond
