SPA, Belgium (AP) - Frenchman Sylvain Chavanel won Monday's second stage of the Tour de France, a rain-swept ride in Belgium marred by crashes.
Chavanel takes over the leader's yellow jersey from Switzerland's Fabian Cancellara.
Lance Armstrong suffered a bloodied thigh in a fall to the asphalt. He's fifth, 3:19 off the pace.
Chavanel jumped out early in a small group in Monday's 125-mile run from Brussels to Spa. This is the second time he has won a Tour stage during his career.
The Tour ends July 25 in Paris.
