Our week ends beautifully today with tons of sun and warm temperatures. The wind will be come a little gusty this afternoon. Those gusts could be as high as 25-30 mph along and west of I-25, which will help to warm the air. Highs will be in the upper 60's and lower 70's around Colorado Springs, while areas along the Arkansas Valley -- including Pueblo, La Junta, and Lamar -- will warm to near 80.
The weekend will be marked by scattered showers and thunderstorms both afternoons. Sunday's coverage likely will be less than Saturday's, but the best outdoors times will be in the mornings. If you are outside and you see lightning, go inside or go into a hard-topped car. Colorado is one of the leaders in lightning-related fatalities in the country, and the Pikes Peak Region is a hot spot for lightning within Colorado.
