Friends say Calhan shooting was love triangle turned deadly

While authorities have not named the victim or homeowners involved in last nights deadly shooting in Calhan, friends of a suspected victim say it was a love triangle that turned deadly. El Paso County Sheriffs detectives initially responded to a 911 call of a burglary in progress, then reports that the suspected burglar had been shot by a homeowner.

The 55-year-old man was flown to a hospital where he later died after being shot in the stomach. When we went back to the house this afternoon, Trent Svidak drove up and told us his friend came over last night to meet an ex-girlfriend for a romantic evening while her new boyfriend was out of town. Svidak said his friend told him if anything happened to him to come to the house on the 15000 block of Ellicott Hwy.

He says it was a set up. Authorities have not named any of the people involved as the investigation continues. Stay with News 5 for the latest.
