Fructose linked to cancer cell growth

A popular sweetener has been linked to faster cancer cell growth.
Researchers at UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center found that fructose caused pancreatic cancer cells to divide and grow more quickly. The findings of their study are reported in the journal Cancer Research.
Americans' consumption of high fructose corn syrup increased more than 1,000-percent between 1970 and 1990, as food and beverage manufacturers added HFCS to processed foods.
The Corn Refiners Association, which represents the fructose industry, points out the study was done in the lab with cells, not inside the human body.
