Ft. Carson breaks ground on Digital Training Campus headquarters

Fort Carson will officially break ground on a new headquarters facility to house components of the Mountain Post Digital Training Campus Friday at 1:30 p.m.

The planned Mission Command Training Center will help consolidate much of Fort Carson's current digital training into a single-story building stretching over approximately 83,000 square feet.

The Mountain Post Digital Training Campus currently consists of several smaller, separate buildings. It offers a wide array of digital classrooms and simulation facilities that enable Soldiers to train for any theatre of operations or conflict type.

In keeping with the Mountain Post's net zero designation, the new Mission Command Training Center will be built to LEED gold standards. Fort Carson also plans to install a 20,000 sq. foot solar array on the surround campus, which will provide 5% of the facility's power.

Facility construction is anticipated to be complete by June 2013, with occupancy scheduled for December 2013.
