DENVER (AP) - A former Colorado Springs man and a longtime fugitive has been sentenced to about 14 years in federal prison for drug and weapons crimes - and failure to show up for his sentencing in 1995.
The U.S. attorney's office for Colorado says 49-year-old Ronald Thrasher was sentenced Tuesday. Authorities say he pleaded guilty in 1995 to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, conspiracy to possess a firearm during drug trafficking and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Authorities say Thrasher then fled to Canada and lived under a different identity for 10 years. They say he moved to Texas, where he was arrested last year and returned to Colorado.
Thrasher pleaded guilty in August for failing to appear in court.
