COLORADO SPRINGS - Political newcomer Jill Gaebler lead the pack in a four-way race for Colorado Springs City Council District 5. At her victory party at Navajo Hogan's, Gaebler said she believed her message for job growth resonated with voters in the district.
"Having a more open minded and welcoming community, one that can help change the image of our city to make it more business friendly and pro business," Gaebler said.
The former head of Greccio housing defeated incumbent councilman Bernie Herpin, Roger McCarville and School District 11 board member Rev. Al Loma.
As of late 9:38 p.m. Tuesday, nearly 15,000 ballots were cast in District 5 making giving it the second highest turnout of any of the six districts behind District 1.
