A substitute teacher at Galileo Middle School in Colorado Springs is on unpaid administrative leave after allegedly getting physical with a student.
The student claims he was 'bodyslammed' by that teacher; school officials want to make clear that was the child's choice of words and they're still working to get the full story. They're making no qualms about one thing though: it was definitely against school policy.
Colorado Springs Police, school security and human resources are all doing investigations to figure out exactly what happened, but it appears a substitute educational assistant got into an altercation with a student and things became physical.
School officials called the student's family, who took him to the hospital as a precaution. There's no word yet on any injuries or criminal charges from the incident.
D-11 spokesperson Devra Ashby told News 5 this was an isolated incident, but the administration is taking swift measures to make sure the situation is handled. Ashby says student safety is the highest priority at the school and they encourage any student who feels threatened to turn to administrators.
The substitute teacher in question remains on unpaid administrative leave until further notice.
