Denver gets a chance to be a part of history tonight, when they welcome Jason Collins.
Collins became the first player to compete in one of the four American major sports while being openly gay, and since, has the highest selling jersey in the league. He signed a ten day contract with the Brooklyn Nets Monday, and in two games has logged 18 minutes, two rebounds, a steal, five fouls, and two turnovers. The power forward is still learning, but already has a weight off his shoulders.
"Life is so much better for me. I don't have to hide who I am. I can just be my normal self," says Collins. "Right now I'm focused on trying to learn the plays, the game plan, assignments, I don't really have time to think about history."
The Nuggets and their fans welcome Collins tonight to the Pepsi Center at 8:30pm.
