Scores of giant Nomura jellyfish are causing big problems for Japanese fishermen.
The jellyfish are 3-6 feet long and are so heavy, they clog and break fishing nets. Some of jellyfish weigh over 300 pounds.
Fishermen are fighting back by using a series of nets to separate the jellyfish and fish. Other possible solutions include increasing the number of natural predators of jellyfish, including the Black Scrapper" fish. A school of them can eat a giant jellyfish in less than 15 minutes.
Last week fishermen had to stop working because of the jellyfish.
