Gov. Hickenlooper signs many bills into law

Governor John Hickenlooper signs 21 bills into law today.

This includes a bill for tuition for dropout recovery program students which means students who participate in those programs will receive payment.

Plus a bill to promote water conservation of designated ground water.

That means there will be safeguards to prevent the modification of a final designated ground water permit based on reductions in the use of designated ground water.

House Bill 13-1043 was also signed which modifies the definition to a deadly weapon.

The definition now includes a firearm (whether loaded or unloaded).

Plus a knife, bludgeon, or any other weapon capable of producing death or serious bodily injury when used.

Another bill allows those who are 18 years of age and in a youth correctional facility to register and vote.

Other bills dealt with identity theft, protection orders to parolees, and Habitat for Humanity.
