COLORADO SPRINGS - The graduates of United States Air Force Academy Class of 2013 may have to hold their hat a little longer for this year's flyover. Since the Air Force Thunderbirds have been grounded indefinitely by sequestration budget cuts, the Texas Flying Legends and WestPac Restorations have stepped up to fly their World War II era aircraft over Falcons Stadium.
The pilots are currently working with the FAA, members of the military and other agencies to incorporate the flyover into the ceremony. You can see the planes in person at the National Museum of World War II Aviation from Memorial Day (May 27) until Graduation Day (May 29.) The display is open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
In the meantime, the museum will be posting dates and times of practice flights on their Facebook page.
