UPDATE: Grass fire west of Ellicott contained

At 5:03 p.m. crews gained containment of this fire and began mop up operations.  One man suffered a burn to his hand.  It was apparently started by a spark from an RV.

A grass fire has broken out in eastern El Paso County.  It is burning west of Ellicott near 3800 South Peyton Highway, between Enoch Road and Book Drive.

Fire crews report it is growing rapidly and currently covers about ten acres.

It is not known if any structures are threatened.

We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.
