Group in Pueblo raises awareness on World Aids Day

A group in Pueblo takes the chance to raise awareness of HIV and aids.

It's World Aids Day and across the globe different events were held to help teach the public about the disease.

Volunteers in Pueblo got together to tell others the vast possibilities of surviving and living a full life with HIV.

They say some people do not realize how many are affected by HIV, and they add they're surprised many people still shun those who have the disease.

"So many of my friends have died, and I want everybody to know that being HIV positive is not a death sentence," said Frank Silva, part of the group raising awareness of HIV. "It's just something you can live with. You need to talk to people."

The night included a candlelight vigil and guest speakers.

They hope it educates people who may have HIV and encourages others to get tested and take preventative steps.
