Debate continues over several controversial gun control measures.
One that would limit the number of rounds in a gun magazine, passed on second reading earlier Friday afternoon.
That vote came after five hours of debate.
It will prohibit the sale and transfer of magazines that exceed 15 rounds.
Both sides had strong opinions.
"The county sheriff's of Colorado who deal with public safety do not want to deny a law abiding citizen the ability to defend himself and his family based on an arbitrary limit," said Colorado Springs Representative Amy Stephens.
"It's not about feeling good this bill is a strategic approach to address the violence in our state and our nation," said Representative Rhonda Fields, who introduced the bill.
Debate on whether to expand background checks began after House Bill 13-1224 passed.
