SCOTTSDALE - A very apologetic Todd Helton faced the cameras Sunday as he arrived at the Rockies spring training camp. The 39-year-old first baseman emphasized his embarrassment when talking about his arrest earlier this month for suspicion of drunk driving.

Helton fought back tears when he was asked about how he broke the news to his daughter.

"I told her I made a mistake, just like Daddy forgives you of your mistakes, you know I've gotta learn," Helton said. " When I talk about making the right steps I'm talking about her too."

The 17-year veteran has been fully cooperative with authorities since the incident and he says it will not affect this upcoming season nor will it become a distraction to the team.

Helton was arrested on February 6th in Thornton. He told arresting officers he'd had 2 Igloo cups of red wine to drink before driving his pick up to a convenience store.
