Hickenlooper opposes immigration law, raises money

Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Hickenlooper says if he were governor, he would veto an immigration reform bill like the one passed in Arizona.

Denver Mayor Hickenlooper has raised about $1.1 million since entering the Colorado governor's race. The Denver Post reports that Hickenlooper's first fundraising filing showed he received money from about 5,000 donors.

Hickenlooper announced his candidacy for governor Jan. 12 after Gov. Bill Ritter decided not to seek re-election.

Hickenlooper's Republican opponent, Scott McInnis, raised more than $550,000 since January. He raised $1 million last year. Another Republican candidate, Dan Maes, says he raised about $62,000 this first-quarter.
