EL PASO COUNTY - A band coach at Air Academy High School is being charged with sexually exploiting a child.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office began investigating 38-year-old David Hurd in early February, after a school resource officer received a report of a possible inappropriate relationship between a student and contract employee.
Hurd was a band choreographer and coach when he allegedly began engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student.
Hurd lives in the Denver area, and was arrested on April 11.
He is being held at the Aurora City Jail on a $500,000 bond.
He is charged with multiple counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child and Obscenity.
Hurd has been involved in marching band activties across the country, as a choreographer and consultant for many years.
Due to the nature of the charges and the victim's age, no additional information is being released. El Paso County Sheriff's Office says there may be more victims.
